Please support our BOTTLE DRIVE. Proceeds go towards the Downeyville Hall Renovation Project. Bottles and cans can be dropped off on the West side of the hall into a wooden box. Sincere thanks to Simon Connell who runs this bottle drive every year and has raised over $10,000 for the hall project.

Welcome!

Many, many years ago,
A century and more,
A group of brave young Irish folks
Left Erin's bright green shore.

They took a sailing vessel
And faced the stormy sea
And crossed the great Atlantic
To a land where they'd be free.
To Canada - a vast domain,
A country great and new,
Where famine was unheard of
And lots of work to do.

There was a man named "Downey"
The first settler who came
And they called the village "Downeyville"
In honour of his name.
It's more than just a village -
Sure it's all the countryside,
Just a little bit of Ireland
Loved by many far and wide.

And, to those who call it "home"
There never could just be
A place as nice as Downeyville
The Heart of Emily.
